We (that’s Naomi, Adam, Caitlin, Ayla and Billy!) are so happy to welcome you to East Thorne: Glamping Holidays in Cornwall.
East Thorne was born out of a honeymoon vision. We’d searched everywhere for a really different getaway, as a couple and a family, but never found the place we imagined. So, we decided to create that place, and one huge life change later – here we are!
East Thorne is dedicated to the luxury glamping experience, where you can experience the great outdoors in stunning Cornwall with a touch of luxury and comfort. Stay in one of our luxury glamping roundhouses or choose a cosy cottage.
You can now come glamping in Cornwall in both comfort and style. Add the experiences and activities we offer with our network of local friends and partners, take in the natural beauty of the North Cornwall coast, and make your stay restful, exhilarating or both!
We’ve created a unique place here at East Thorne with our love of the coast, countryside, flames and food at the heart of everything we do. East Thorne is in Kilkhampton, near Bude on the North Cornwall coast. We’re tucked away in the Cornish countryside, just a short drive from Bude and some of our favourite beaches. Sandymouth is around a 4-minute drive away, while Summerleaze and Crooklets in Bude are around 5 miles from us. Our glamping accommodation near Bude is a little different. We have 10 luxury Roundhouses designed for year-round stays. They combine the outdoorsy feel we loved about our original glamping days with proper home comforts including en-suite bathrooms, fitted kitchens, underfloor heating, wood burners, full electrics and hot tubs. We also have cosy Cornwall cottages if glamping isn't quite your thing. Yes, hot tubs come with all of our Roundhouses. Our family Roundhouses have screened electric hot-tub areas, while our two private couples Roundhouses offer either an electric hot tub. Perfect for jumping into after a day at the beach or warming up under the Cornish night sky. Very! Sandymouth is our closest beach at around a 4-minute drive and is one of our absolute favourites — dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, coast path and miles of sand when the tide is out. Summerleaze and Crooklets in Bude are around 5 miles away, and Widemouth Bay is another great option further along the coast. Absolutely. We have two private couples Roundhouses tucked away from the main site. The Secret Roundhouse has its own private garden, electric hot tub, fire bowl and covered outdoor kitchen, while Cynefin has a private garden, electric hot tub, roll-top bath, double shower and beautiful valley views. If they're booked, some of our stand-alone Roundhouses also make lovely couples escapes. Very. Our family Roundhouses sleep different combinations of families and groups, with kitchens, bathrooms, hot tubs and plenty of outdoor space. Around the site you'll also find a climbing frame, communal campfire, outdoor pizza oven, animal feeding and The Tallet — our covered, heated gathering space. It's all about giving the kids space to explore while the grown-ups get a chance to relax too. Yes, we have a selection of dog-friendly Roundhouses and cottages, subject to availability and prior arrangement. We generally accept one dog or two small dogs per dog-friendly accommodation. Dogs need to stay on a lead around the site because we have other guests as well as free-range chickens and ducks. And with countryside walks and the North Cornwall coast nearby, there are plenty of adventures to have together. Yes. Our Roundhouses are designed for year-round glamping in Cornwall, with underfloor heating, wood-burning stoves, full electrics and proper en-suite bathrooms — so you're not relying on Cornish sunshine to have a great stay. Hot tubs and cosy fires can make the cooler months some of our favourite times here. You can make your stay as slow or as adventurous as you like. Bude and the North Cornwall coast are close by for beaches, surfing, sea swimming, rock pooling and coastal walks, with Sandymouth, Summerleaze, Crooklets and Widemouth Bay all within easy reach. Or stay closer to home for hot tubs, campfires, outdoor cooking and a proper switch-off. Because East Thorne gives you the best bits of getting outdoors without giving up the comforts that make a break feel like a break. Think unique Roundhouses, private hot tubs, proper kitchens and bathrooms, campfires and countryside, with Bude and the North Cornwall coast just down the road. Come as a couple, family, group or with your four-legged VIP and make the stay as relaxed or adventure-filled as you like. Yes. East Thorne is a great option for group stays near Bude, whether you’re planning a family gathering, friends’ weekend, celebration or relaxed team getaway. We can accommodate groups of up to 54 people across a mix of our Roundhouses and cosy cottages, so everyone can stay together while still having their own space. Larger groups can also make use of our communal campfire, clay oven, covered heated dining area and indoor gathering space, and we can help arrange local activities or catering too. We've Been A-'Round' For A While
We listened to our guests, watched what they loved, and have taken all the best bits of the original yurt experience and then we went full throttle with the luxury.
Switching to roundhouses means you still enjoy that feeling of getting away from it all.
Just with considerably more luxury and convenience.
If you haven’t been back to East Thorne for a while, we’d love you to come and see what we’ve been up to.
Same soul, completely different level of comfort
