We (that’s Naomi, Adam, Caitlin, Ayla and Billy!) are so happy to welcome you to East Thorne: Wooden Yurt Holidays in Cornwall – Our home and way of life.
East Thorne was born out of a honeymoon glamping vision. We’d searched everywhere for a really different getaway, but never found the place we imagined. So, we decided to create that place in 2011 when Adam retired from professional rugby (and I was 20 weeks pregnant). One huge life change later – here we are, 10 years under our belt, plenty of curve balls thrown, lessons learnt and beautiful memories made.
How it all began
East Thorne started its life with us as a run down campsite. We worked hard for 3 months, renovated 4 cottages and built a dedicated yurt-based glamping site. So many of our guests tell us how amazing it is to sleep in a round space but missed having their own bathroom.
Where we are now
So in 2019 we adapted our seasonal yurt offering and replaced our yurts with beautiful en-suite wooden yurts (we call it a Roundhouse). We certainly felt when we began our journey in 2011 that we had raised the ‘glamping bar’ and so in 2019 we raised it again.
Our Roundhouses come complete with en-suites, internal fully fitted kitchens, underfloor heating, wood burners, full electrics and hot tubs. We now have 8 Roundhouses at East Thorne and 2 ultimate uber-glamping Roundhouses for couples.
ALL of our accommodation can now be enjoyed all year ROUND (sorry we couldn’t help ourselves) sleeping up to 54 guests in 4 cottages, 8 family Roundhouses, 2 private couples Roundhouses and one sleep 2 loft (Opening July 2022). You will still see us on the coal face, cleaning, changing hot tubs and for best part; welcoming you to our East Thorne.
You can now come glamping in Cornwall in both comfort and style. Add the experiences and activities we offer with our network of local friends and partners, take in the natural beauty of the North Cornwall coast, and make your stay restful, exhilarating or both!
We’ve created a unique place here at East Thorne with the Roundhouses boasting a fantastic camp site feel with an emphasis on outdoor adventure. We’re on hand for anything you need to make your stay perfect; whether you want to get involved in our unique East Thorne spirit, or want to enjoy your own space. We have something for everyone.
